Meet Leighann Miko, CFP® (she|her)
Founder, Lead Financial Advisor
I've always believed that financial planning is about far more than money. It's about creating a life that feels secure, meaningful, and true to who you are.
That's why I founded Equalis Financial.
As a fee-only fiduciary and CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® professional, I help people make thoughtful financial decisions through every stage of life. Some clients come to me because they're navigating a career change, an inheritance, retirement, or the sale of a business. Others simply want a trusted partner who can help them bring clarity to their financial lives and confidence to the decisions ahead.
I love bringing order to complexity. Whether we're creating a long-term financial plan, building an investment strategy, thinking through tax opportunities, or designing a charitable giving plan, my goal is to make money feel less overwhelming and more empowering. I believe the best financial advice is rooted not only in technical expertise, but also in curiosity, empathy, and a genuine understanding of what matters most to the people I serve.
When I'm not working with clients, you'll probably find me traveling with my wife, wandering through a beautifully designed neighborhood or museum, mentoring other financial advisors, or planning my next adventure. I also believe that humor belongs in financial planning. One of our core values at Equalis is "Find the Humor," because life is too unpredictable and too interesting to take ourselves too seriously.

Financial advisor
Despite being the daughter of a corporate financial analyst, it never crossed my mind to major in finance in college. I chose to major in journalism, partially because I’ve always loved meeting people and telling stories about purpose and possibility … and partially because it didn’t require any math classes.
It wasn’t until I started managing my own money that I realized how empowering personal finance can be. Learning how to align my finances with my values and goals gave me the opportunity to travel, start a side hustle, and support causes that I care about. I became a financial planner to help others experience that same sense of clarity and freedom.
Before becoming a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™, I spent nearly a decade as a journalist, honing my ability to see problems from every angle and make complex information easy to understand. I bring that same curiosity and care to every financial plan I create, helping clients see their full financial picture and chart a clear, values-aligned path forward.
I’m passionate about guiding clients through major financial milestones with confidence and compassion. Together, let’s design a plan that feels organized, empowering, and completely your own.
